BackPack Program

Mujeres de colores backpack program - TUESDAY, AUGUST 2

The Backpack Program is held each year the first Tuesday of August in conjunction with Neighborhood Night Out in the Tres Colonias. This program helps provide children of all backgrounds - working class and low-income families - with a new backpack and supplies to start the new school year.

Since its inception, hundreds of children and families have been helped by our Backpack Program. In addition, holding this event in conjunction with Neighborhood Night Out helps to foster neighborhood connections and offers an opportunity for families to get to know one another.

How to Donate: We take donations all year round so we don't have to start over each year.   CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION

New Film - Los betabeleros:the beet workers

A new film by Betty Aragon-Mitotes and Shari Due of Be Reel Pictures

Los Betabeleros honors the contribution of the Hispanic and Mexican beet workers, giving recognition to a forgotten people. Through personal oral histories, the life and working conditions of the beet workers are recognized and acknowledged. This film is dedicated to not only the past but the present immigrant community that is still working the fields to put food on our table. These truly are The Hands That Feed.
