OCTOBER 9th from 5:30 to 8 PM - Learn to Make Authentic Homemade Empanadas

Introduction: An empanada is a pastry turnover filled with delicious ingredients. The word "empanada" comes from the Spanish verb "empanar"* meaning "to coat or to bread." Empanadas are made of dough that is wrapped around filings like meats (beef, chicken, or pork), cheeses, vegetables (potato, spinach, or corn) or fruits (apples, berries, pumpkin, etc.). They are usually fried or baked. Empanadas are great as a meal or snack.

During this session we will be making tasty some pumpkin and some raspberry empanadas.

* The term “empanizar” is most commonly used in Southwestern areas of USA and in Mexico.

What's Included in this class?

  • Making some pumpkin and some raspberry empanadas.
  • Enjoying the “fruits” of our labor after the class.
  • A take home kit with recipe (for 1 dozen each) that includes the following:

For both the Pumpkin and Raspberry Empanada Dough: flour, sugar, & salt. (Note: butter, eggs, & water or milk ARE NOT provided in take home kit.)

For Pumpkin Filling: White sugar, ground cinnamon, salt, ground ginger, ground cloves. (Note: Pumpkin and eggs ARE NOT provided in take home kit.)

For Raspberry Filling: Raspberry preserves ARE NOT provided in take home kit.

In addition, the kitchen being used may have traces or contain PEANUTS, TREE NUTS, FISH, CRUSTACEAN SHELLFISH, SOY, & SESAME.   • We recommend you wear comfortable shoes and bring an apron. This is a hands-on class, during which you will be on your feet throughout the duration of the class.

  • Yes. This class is best suited for ages 15 years and older.

  • We can accommodate up to 12 individuals.
